Senior Engineer/Director Malcom Joab attended Seminars on Resistivity Imaging and Advanced Resistivity Imaging hosted by Advanced Geosciences Inc (AGI) at Austin Texas from Feb 17 - 20, 2009. AGI are industry leaders in resistivity imaging and have been involved in a prestigious projects throughout the world including: USA, Kenya, Brazil, Mexico, China & Indonesia. The seminar was taught by Dr. Bradley Carr and Xianjin Yang.

Assistant Engineer, Darryl Bodkin and Senior Field\Laboratory Technician, Garfield James attended the Asphalt Mix Design Technology Certification Course. The course was hosted by the Asphalt Institute at their corporate headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky, U.S.A. The course ran from January 27 - 30, 2009. It covered mix design methods for Superpave, Marshall, Stone Matrix Asphalt (S.M.A.) and Open Graded Friction Courses (O.G.F.C.) mixture types and the use of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (R.A.P.) in Hot Mix Asphalt (H.M.A.).

Geotech Associates Limited conducted vibration analyses and field monitoring of vibrations during the extraction of sheet piles at the recently constructed plant room at Red House, Port-of-Spain. The Red House is one of Trinidad and Tobago’s National Historic buildings and is home to the Parliament. The client was concerned about the possible negative impact of the extraction of the sheet piles on the structural integrity of the Red House. The use of the Minimate Plus by Instantel allowed Geotech’s Malcom Joab to accurately indentify the number of sheet piles that could be safely extracted.

Geotech Associates personnel were trained in the use of the Cross Hole Analyser (CHA) equipment along with data intepretation using the relevant support software (CHA Software and Tomosonic Software) in May 2007.
In addition to Pile Drivng Analyser, Pile Integrity and Split spoon analyser testing, Geotech Associates are now in a position to analyse piles for defects using the CHA equipment..
